In 1995, Dr. K.L. Thakral laid the foundation of the Oriental Group of Institutes — an independent, self-financed group delivering quality education in Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, and Advanced Computer Studies.
The group has colleges of repute in Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur, and has a very prominent presence in the Central region, transforming the lives of many students. The Oriental Group runs under the Devi Shakuntala Thakral Charitable Foundation, Bhopal.

Since 1995, the Devi Shakuntala Thakral Charitable Foundation has set up charitable and educational objectives to promote advancement in education. The mission of the advisory board is to contribute knowledge and influence not only to the lives of students, but to support the continuing education and research in the field of learning.
